Boy, I haven't been playing at all for the last year, it's too damn cold here in MI to get a practice space, I live in an apt and the old ladies would not like it if I practiced. So I gave up the kit bascially, just did nothing with the sticks for the last year...
I played Brown Eyed Girl on a guy's set who sang the song, he is a killer singing drumer, just amazing, and I had a blast. For some reason, it devolved into reggae in the middle, I kept up, I love Sly Dunbar, no Vinnie reggae stuff thrown in, but man, it was fun...got a compliment from the cute blonde waitress. Have to go back and chat here up some more.
I think I need to keep on playing.

yea, that will do it. The 'Ole sit in will stoke that drumming fire in the belly every time.
Just curious, why don't you get an electronic set for the Apt just to keep up the chops?

It's definitely a bummer not having a kit to play on. I would also recommend a cheap electronic kit. Get one used on ebay or something.
Also, don't underestimate the value of practicing on a pad or pillow! Every time I do it and get behind the kit afterwards, I can feel/hear the results. And you'll feel better doing something at least...

my group plays "Brown eyed girl" sometimes and it's funny you mention going into a reggae feel, cuz I do the same thing. what a coincidence.

Good for you my man!
Female attention is one of the reasons I took up playing the drums in the first place! There's nothing like a girl to stoke the fire in your belly! Ha ha ha!
Have you tried looking into an electronic kit? I guess it must be a little uninspiring pad playing on it's own...
Are there any cheap rehearsal halls around you?

I played a gig with a classic rock band. They asked if I knew Brown Eyed Girl. I said no. They also asked if I knew Proud Mary. I said no. We did not play those songs, thank god.

THe reason I don't have an electronic kit is that my biking hobbydiction takes up most of my cash. I have been drooling over some DH bikes and they go for 2-3 grand or more...
But I am gonna tihnk about getting a kit, I think they may be even too mosiy with the clicking and clacking for the old ladies downstairs. I have heavy feet.

Well, you can use the bike for a rack unit and just buy pads and a controller. You can actually ride to your gigs!
Sorry, I couldn't resist...
